Inquiry to Shipment: Custom PDQ Tray Case for European Client

On May 10, 2026, Topwon received an inquiry from a European customer about custom PDQ trays. Wendy personally took responsibility for the inquiry and subsequent project coordination.

The timeline below follows Topwon’s published customization and production lead times, outlining the anticipated stages from requirements review and structural design to free sampling, bulk production, and shipment.

Timeline note: The initial inquiry date and project contact are confirmed. All subsequent dates are estimated based on typical project lead times, not verified completion records. Actual dates are subject to the order records.

May 10, 2026 — Inquiry Received and Assigned to Wendy

A European customer contacted Topwon about custom PDQ display trays. Wendy became the main point of contact for requirements discussions and project coordination.

The first step was to establish what the trays would hold, how many products each tray needed to accommodate, and where the displays would be placed. These details would guide the dimensions, structure, and artwork layout, rather than forcing the products into a predetermined tray design.

Topwon offers free design and free samples, supported by structural design and 3D rendering services.

May 11–12, 2026 — Planned Requirements Review and Initial Design

Two days were allocated to organizing the product information, reviewing the display requirements, and developing an initial concept. This aligns with Topwon’s published customization timeframe of approximately one to two days.

At this stage, Wendy would coordinate confirmation of:

Product package dimensions and individual unit weight.

The number of products required per tray.

Whether different sizes, flavors, or variants needed separate sections.

Available shelf or countertop space.

Branding, artwork, and packing requirements.

Order quantity and target delivery date.

The proposed structure would need to balance product arrangement, access, and branding space, rather than focusing on appearance alone.

May 13–18, 2026 — Planned Structural Sampling and Product-Fit Checks

Following approval of the initial concept, four working days were allocated to producing and checking the structural sample. This estimate follows Topwon’s published sample lead time of approximately three to four working days and excludes international shipping and customer review.

The purpose of this stage would be to verify the physical fit and usability of the tray before proceeding to bulk production.

CheckReview Focus
Product FitWhether the intended quantity of products fits in the planned arrangement.
Tray DimensionsWhether the external dimensions suit the available retail space.
Panel HeightsWhether the panels obscure important information on the product packaging.
Divider LayoutWhether separate sections are needed for different products or variants.
AssemblyWhether folds, locking tabs, and glued areas allow straightforward assembly.
Structural SupportWhether the structure is suitable for the intended loading requirements.

Any necessary dimensional or structural changes would need to be resolved before final sample approval.

May 19–22, 2026 — Planned Artwork Review and Printed Sample Preparation

A further four working days were allocated to checking the final artwork and preparing a printed sample. This is a project planning allowance, not a fixed lead-time commitment for every printed sample.

The artwork review would cover logo placement, text orientation, graphics crossing fold lines, and the information remaining visible after the products were loaded.

The printed sample would provide an opportunity to review the assembled presentation before approving the design for production. Topwon’s free design and sample services support this development stage.

May 25–June 3, 2026 — Allowance for Sample Shipping and Customer Review

Approximately one and a half weeks were reserved for international sample shipping, physical review, and feedback.

This is a scheduling allowance, not a guaranteed delivery time to Europe. The actual timeframe would depend on the destination country, transport service, customs clearance, and the customer’s review process.

The customer’s review would focus on:

  • Whether the loaded products matched the intended layout.
  • Whether the tray was practical to assemble and use.
  • Whether the printed content was correct.
  • Whether the overall appearance matched the approved concept.
  • Whether further structural or artwork changes were required.

If revisions were requested, subsequent production dates would need to move accordingly. Bulk production should not be treated as approved while sample review remains incomplete.

June 4, 2026 — Planned Final Approval and Specification Sign-Off

June 4 was selected as the planned approval milestone for confirming the structure, artwork, materials, quantity, and packing requirements.

Approval ItemDetails to Confirm
StructureTray dimensions, panel heights, dividers, and assembly method.
MaterialsApproved board specification and structural materials.
PrintingFinal artwork, graphic orientation, and surface finish.
QuantityConfirmed production order quantity.
PackingFlat-packed or assembled configuration, carton requirements, and shipping marks.
DeliveryConsignee information, transport arrangements, and target schedule.

Bulk production would begin only after the relevant specifications had been approved.

June 5–18, 2026 — Planned Bulk Production

Approximately ten working days were allocated to bulk production, within Topwon’s commonly published production range of seven to twelve days. This estimate counts Monday through Friday; the actual schedule would require confirmation against the order specifications, manufacturing processes, and factory availability.

Production would follow the approved sample and files. Depending on the final construction and finish, the manufacturing sequence could include printing, mounting, die-cutting, creasing, and gluing.

Wendy’s planned focus during this stage would be to coordinate progress against the approved specifications. Actual production photographs and progress records could be added to the final case study once available.

June 19–22, 2026 — Planned Final Inspection and Packing

Two working days were reserved for finished-product checks and shipment packing. This is a planning allowance for the project, not a fixed inspection lead time.

The final checks would focus on:

  • Consistency of dimensions and structure.
  • Correct printed content, orientation, and appearance.
  • Folding and assembly performance.
  • Order quantity verification.
  • Compliance with the agreed packing and carton-marking requirements.

Topwon handles most production processes in-house, from printing to final packing, with quality-control procedures supporting the manufacturing process.

June 23–24, 2026 — Planned Dispatch Preparation and Carrier Handover

The final two days were reserved for checking packing information, consignee details, and shipping documents, followed by handover according to the confirmed booking or collection arrangement.

Under this estimated schedule, the order would be ready for carrier handover around June 24. This milestone does not mean the customer would have received the goods by that date.

As the destination country and shipping method have not been confirmed, no arrival date is assigned. The case study also does not assume sea freight, air freight, or courier delivery.
