Custom Corrugated Sock Display Rack Case Study

This case study actually dates back quite a while, but I just haven’t had the time to share it with you all until now. Once again, the client is based in the U.S., and our wonderful Alina handled the entire project.

Alina

First off, a big shout-out to Alina—her professionalism and dedication earned high praise from the client. Below, Topwon will share this case study on a sock display rack with you all:

November 2023: The Email from USA

A well-established US retail chain specializing in hosiery products reached out to Topwon with a critical pain point. They supplied major supermarkets and retail stores across the country, but their core product—socks—suffered from low visibility due to poor showcase.

Most socks sat haphazardly on generic shelves, creating a “cheap” brand image that undermined their quality. This disorganized layout turned high-quality products into slow-moving inventory. Additionally, store staff wasted hours daily restocking and tidying shelves, driving up labor costs. The brand also struggled to highlight new arrivals and promotional offers effectively.

Our dedicated Alina Topwon took charge of the inquiry from day one. She actively captured every client requirement and maintained clear communication throughout the initial discovery phase.

December 2023: Alina Leads, Custom Solution Approved

Alina collaborated with our design team to craft a tailored solution for the US retail market. We developed a dual-option display system featuring both countertop and freestanding options:

  • Countertop Version: An 8-tiered stepped shelf (40x30cm) designed specifically for checkout counters. This design targeted impulse buying by placing socks directly in customers’ paths during payment.
  • Freestanding Version: A multi-compartment unit with clear dividers, separating athletic, casual, and business socks for easy customer navigation.
  • Material Choice: We selected durable B-flute corrugated board to withstand high foot traffic and frequent restocking in US supermarkets.
  • Branding: Large header boards featured full-color printing of new designs and promotions, making product benefits instantly visible.

Alina actively synchronized every design detail with the client. She adjusted sizes and artwork repeatedly until the client was 100% satisfied, ensuring the final plan perfectly aligned with their store standards.

January 2024: Production & National Rollout

Alina closely supervised the production and logistics stages to guarantee on-time, high-quality delivery. After bulk production, the displays rolled out to hundreds of stores across the USA.

The results were immediate:

  • The countertop displays became “hidden sales champions,” driving consistent impulse purchases as customers checked out.
  • The freestanding units transformed sock sections into clean, organized spaces, eliminating daily tidying tasks for staff.

Alina actively followed up with first store feedback, provided real-time updates to the client, and resolved any installation questions remotely.

March 2024: Stunning Data & Long-Term Partnership

Two months post-launch, the client shared impressive performance data, which Alina immediately shared with our team:

  • Sock sales jumped by 42% at checkout locations, driven by strong impulse buying.
  • Staff reduced daily restocking time by 70%, significantly cutting operational costs.
  • 85% of partner supermarkets reported longer customer dwell times and increased add-on sales.
  • The standardized design cut production and transportation costs by 25%, making it the official global store configuration.

The client sent a formal thank-you note, praising Alina for her professionalism and dedication. They explicitly stated they felt completely confident throughout the entire process. As a result, the client immediately reached out to Topwon for their next series of display projects.
