Case of Custom Inquiry for Corrugated Floor Display Racks for Insect Repellent Products
This client is a U.S.-based brand specializing in insect repellent products. Their products are sold offline through major distributors, and the company is looking to boost sales. To achieve this, they decided to use the currently popular corrugated cardboard display stands, opting for a customized design, mass production, and placement in major retail stores and shopping centers. Below, the Topwon editorial team will share the process behind this case study, hoping it will provide some inspiration.

Time Node 1: January 6, 2026 – Receive Inquiry and Initial Contact (Analyze Requirements)
1.1 Respond Quickly and Establish Initial Communication
After receiving the inquiry, I replied to the customer immediately. First, I thanked them, and then I took the initiative to ask about their specific needs. Although the email mentioned the insect repellent product, floor-standing structure, and large American chain supermarket channel, many details still needed confirmation. Since it was the customer’s first time making such products, I did not use too many professional terms. Instead, I sorted out their needs one by one in simple and straightforward language to prevent them from missing key information due to lack of experience.
1.2 Analyze Carefully and Clarify Core Needs
After communicating with the customer, we quickly understood their core needs. The customer sold three types of insect repellent products, each with a different shape: one was a spray that you could spray, one was a paste like ointment, and the other was a portable patch that you could stick on your body. These three products needed to be placed separately on the display racks, not mixed together. This way, people shopping in the supermarket could find what they wanted at a glance. In addition, these display racks would be used in large American supermarkets. The supermarkets had clear requirements for the display racks: they must be environmentally friendly, strong enough, and look clean and tidy. Moreover, the distance from our place to the United States is very far. The display racks must be foldable and detachable so that we could pack more of them and reduce shipping costs. Otherwise, the shipping cost would be too high, and it would not be cost-effective for the customer.
1.3 Recommend Materials Precisely and Confirm Cooperation Direction
Based on the customer’s needs, I gave them a core suggestion immediately: use corrugated paper as the material for the display racks. Corrugated paper is not only environmentally friendly and meets the environmental standards of American supermarkets, but also light in weight and foldable. It can greatly reduce the volume and cost of international shipping. At the same time, through structural optimization, it can fully bear the weight of the insect repellent products (each spray bottle is not heavy, so corrugated paper is strong enough). It can also realize customized visual design through high-definition printing, which fits the style of the insect repellent products. The customer agreed with this suggestion. They said they had considered other materials before, but those materials were either not environmentally friendly or too expensive for shipping. Corrugated paper just solved their worries. In this way, we initially confirmed the material and core direction, and the customer confidently entrusted us with the follow-up custom process.
Time Node 2: January 8 – January 12, 2026 – Design Plan and Sample Making (Customization Implementation)
2.1 Design Precisely to Meet Product and Channel Needs
After confirming the needs, our design team started working immediately. We focused on “customization for insect repellent products” and “corrugated paper floor-standing structure”. Since the display racks would be placed at the end of the aisles, we focused on “visibility” and “practicality” during the design. The overall structure is floor-standing, with a height of 1.2 meters. This height is just right for the visual height of American supermarket aisles. It will not be too high to block the view, nor too low to be inconspicuous. The main body has three layers of display racks: the bottom layer holds spray bottles (they are a little heavier, so placing them at the bottom makes the rack more stable), the middle layer holds paste products, and the top layer holds portable patches. Each layer has a special slot to prevent the products from slipping. At the same time, the edges of the slots are rounded to avoid scratching the product packaging. For the visual design, we chose light green as the main color, matching with white lines to simulate the texture of natural plants. We printed the core product patterns and the slogan “Natural Insect Repellent, Long-Lasting Protection” on the front. We also reserved a position for the customer’s brand logo on the side. This not only highlights the product features but also promotes the brand. In addition, considering the display needs of American supermarkets, we added a small sign on the side of the display rack. It can hold the usage instructions and promotion information of the insect repellent products to improve sales.
2.2 Confirm the Plan and Respond to the Customer’s Minor Modifications
After completing the design plan, we sent it to the customer for confirmation immediately. At the same time, we explained the purpose of each design in detail—such as why we chose light green, why we used layered display, and why we designed a foldable structure. This helped the new customer understand every detail clearly. The customer was very satisfied with the plan. They only put forward one small modification: they hoped to add a transparent baffle to the portable patch display area on the top layer to prevent the products from falling. We adjusted the design immediately and sent the revised plan to them the same day. After the customer confirmed it, we started making samples.
2.3 Make Samples and Verify Quality and Effect
When making the samples, we used high-strength corrugated paper (which meets American environmental standards and has passed FSC forest certification). We adopted a foldable structure design, so it can be assembled quickly without tools. At the same time, we did waterproof treatment on the corrugated paper (we added a waterproof tray at the bottom) to avoid the display rack being damaged by the damp floor in the supermarket. On January 12, the samples were finished. We took detailed assembly videos and close-up photos and sent them to the customer. We also marked the assembly steps and load-bearing test results (each layer can bear 5kg, which fully meets the display needs of the insect repellent products). After watching the sample videos, the customer felt completely at ease. They confirmed that the samples were qualified and signed a formal custom contract with us.
Time Node 3: January 13 – January 25, 2026 – Mass Production and Quality Inspection (Ensure Smooth Delivery)
3.1 Start Mass Production and Make Preparation Work
After signing the formal contract with the American customer, we started mass production immediately. Because the customer wanted to sell the insect repellent products in large American supermarkets, they needed a large number of display racks. So we arranged a special production line to ensure that we could finish and deliver the products on time. During production, we focused on three aspects: First, the corrugated paper for the display racks. We checked each batch of paper carefully to ensure it is environmentally friendly and strong enough, so it would not break easily. Second, the printed patterns and words. We ensured that the light green color is even, and the product patterns and slogans are clear. There is no blurriness or missing printing. Third, the assembly of the display racks. We tested each rack manually to ensure it can be folded easily, assembled firmly, and the slots for the insect repellent products are of the right size. All three types of products can be placed stably.
3.2 Monitor the Whole Process to Make the Customer At Ease
During these more than ten days of production, the American customer occasionally asked us, “How is the production going?” and “When will it be finished?” To make them less anxious, we sent them photos of the production site and progress reports every day. No matter what questions they asked, such as “Is the corrugated paper moisture-proof?” “Are the mass-produced products as good as the samples?” and “Can you deliver them earlier?” we answered them patiently one by one. After all, it was their first time making display racks, and they were cooperating with us from such a long distance. It was normal for them to worry about the quality and delivery time. What we could do was to do every link carefully and make them at ease with our thoughtful service.
3.3 Inspect Strictly and Prepare for Packaging
On January 23, all the display racks were produced. We did not pack and ship them directly. Instead, we inspected each display rack thoroughly. We picked out those that were not firmly assembled or had printing defects. We ensured that all the products sent to the customer and used in American supermarkets are qualified. After the inspection, we folded the display racks according to the customer’s requirements and wrapped them with moisture-proof packaging materials to prevent them from getting damp and damaged during transportation. At the same time, we pasted clear assembly instructions, both in Chinese and English. This way, the staff in American supermarkets can learn how to assemble them at a glance.
Time Node 4: January 26 – February 5, 2026 – Logistics Shipping and After-Sales Guidance (Full Support)
4.1 Arrange Logistics to Ensure Timely International Delivery
On January 26, we contacted our long-term cooperative international logistics service provider and shipped the mass-customized corrugated floor display racks. At the same time, we sent the logistics tracking number to the customer so that they could track the logistics progress in real time. Considering that international shipping takes a long time, we communicated with the logistics provider in advance and arranged the shipping first. We ensured that the products could be delivered to the American supermarket warehouse on the time agreed with the customer.
4.2 Follow Up Dynamically and Feedback Logistics Information in Time
During the logistics transportation, we took the initiative to keep in touch with the customer and fed back the logistics information in time. If there was a logistics delay, we coordinated with the logistics provider immediately and explained the situation to the customer to avoid their dissatisfaction. On February 3, the display racks arrived at the American supermarket warehouse smoothly. After receiving the goods, the customer contacted us immediately. They said the quality of the display racks was the same as the samples, and they were easy to fold and assemble. However, the staff in the supermarket were not very familiar with the assembly process and hoped we could provide further guidance.

4.3 Provide After-Sales Guidance to Help with Smooth Display
We immediately arranged professional technical personnel to guide the American supermarket staff to assemble the display racks through video call. We explained each folding and splicing step in detail and answered their questions, such as “How to align the slots?” and “How to fix the folded parts?” We guided them patiently until all the display racks were assembled and placed in place. When the customer saw that the display racks were perfectly placed at the end of the supermarket aisles, which fit the style of the insect repellent products and met the display needs, they spoke highly of our service and products. They said this cooperation exceeded their expectations and they would continue to cooperate with us in the future.

The core of this project was the customization of a floor-standing corrugated cardboard display stand for a client’s mosquito repellent products, designed to fit the layout of large overseas retail chains. Since this was their first time using this type of custom corrugated cardboard display stand, they lacked experience in many areas and required extra patient guidance from us at Topwon. Our team members demonstrated great patience, and our service and technical expertise were highly professional, which ultimately led to the successful completion of the project and earned us praise from the client. Once again, a big thank you to our wonderful colleague, Jessica.

Her enthusiasm touched the client and helped ensure the project proceeded smoothly.
